Job summary

Ventia is seeking a qualified Field Electrician for a dynamic FIFO role on Barrow Island. You’ll be on site for two weeks, maintaining and repairing electrical systems while coordinating with site leadership to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires trade qualification and experience with PLC systems, fault-finding, and three-phase motors. Barrow Island emphasizes adaptability and safety in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Electrician with oil and gas experience on drilling or workover rigs.
• Ability to work solo and in a team while following applicable standards and electrical safety knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of PLC systems and control, plus related software (desirable).
• Soft starter/ VSD and power generation experience is desirable.
• Three-phase motors and control systems expertise.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical systems to keep operations safe and efficient.
• Plan work based on scheduled work orders and coordinate with Electrical Superintendent, Maintenance Manager and field crews.
• On-site FIFO: two weeks on site, two weeks off site at Barrow Island.
• Collaborate to ensure smooth operations and compliance with safety standards.

About The Role

Ventia is looking for a qualified Field Electrician to join our trades team. This is a dynamic FIFO role where you’ll be on site for two weeks. Maintaining and repairing electrical systems to keep operations safe and efficient. You’ll plan your work based on scheduled work orders and collaborate with the Electrical Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, and field crews to ensure everything runs smoothly.

About You

• Trade-qualified Electrician with experience in oil and gas, ideally on drilling or workover rigs.


• Competent to work solo and in a team environment and the ability to make decisions following applicable standards and electrical safety knowledge


• Strong knowledge of PLC systems and control, plus related software (desirable)


• Soft starter/ VSD and power generation experience is desirable


• Three phase motors and control systems


• Post-trade electrical experience in heavy industrial environments with good general electrical knowledge in relevant areas


• Skilled at fault-finding and troubleshooting under pressure


• Point of hire: Perth, WA


• Competent in using computer systems for maintenance tracking and reporting


• Valid Open Manual Driver’s Licence (or higher)


• Hazardous Area’s: Certificate IV in Electrical Equipment in Hazardous areas (EEHA)
