Job summary

Fitness Cartel Health Clubs is launching a brand-new Cairns club and seeking expressions of interest from experienced Retail Managers. You’ll lead the Pro-Shop and Barbell Café retail team, drive sales, and deliver outstanding customer experiences at the new Cairns location.

As part of a growing fitness brand, you’ll work with the Customer Service Manager and Club General Manager to establish smooth retail operations, develop staff, and contribute to a dynamic, member-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ retail sales supervisory experience (fitness/nutrition a plus).
• Experience in KPI-driven environments and achieving targets.
• Strong communication and rapport-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and support Retail Assistants.
• Prepare staff rosters and ensure coverage during peak periods.
• Track retail sales, order stock and manage inventory.
• Handle supplements, food, beverages and apparel; stay informed on products.
• Lead the team to achieve sales targets and KPIs.
• Create daily social content to promote retail offerings.
• Maintain high customer service and maximize sales opportunities.
• Complete administrative tasks as required.

Expression of Interest: Retail Manager – Cairns

Fitness Cartel Health Clubs is bringing a brand-new club to Cairns, and we’re seeking expressions of interest from experienced Retail Managers who want to help launch and grow an exciting new facility.

We’re more than a gym. With plans to expand to 60+ clubs by 2030, our state-of-the-art facilities include Cycle Studios, Reformer Pilates, cafés, crèches, saunas and premium training spaces.

The Role

Retail Managers are a key part of the “engine room” of our clubs. As the face of the Pro-Shop and Barbell Café, you’ll lead the retail team, maximise sales opportunities and help deliver exceptional customer experiences.

You’ll work closely with the Customer Service Manager and Club General Manager to establish strong retail operations at our new Cairns location.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and support Retail Assistants.
• Prepare staff rosters and ensure adequate coverage during peak periods.
• Track retail sales, order stock and support inventory control.
• Manage supplements, food, beverages and apparel, staying informed on new products.
• Lead the team to achieve sales targets and key performance indicators.
• Create daily Facebook and Instagram content to promote retail offerings.
• Maintain high customer service standards and maximise sales opportunities.
• Complete administrative tasks and other duties as required.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years’ retail sales supervisory experience, ideally in fitness, nutrition or supplements.
• Experience working in a KPI-driven environment and achieving sales targets.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence customers.
• A customer-focused, solutions-oriented approach.
• Proven ability to coach, motivate and lead a team.
• Passion for health, fitness and the Fitness Cartel brand.
• A proactive, reliable and professional approach with strong attention to detail.
• Computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems.
• Flexibility, initiative and the ability to multitask.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
