Job summary

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a Café and Functions Assistant for Heirloom, a coastal kitchen and dining space within a retirement living community just south of Sydney. You’ll help create a home-like atmosphere for residents, delivering warm service and crafting Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

Key responsibilities include espresso coffee, POS operation, and supporting village events, with a focus on care, connection, and high standards of hospitality.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience in food service or front of house, including barista skills.
• RSA/Responsible Service of Alcohol required.
• Working with Children Check (WWCC) required or willingness to obtain.
• Food safety and hygiene knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver top-notch customer service with warmth and a smile.
• Prepare food and beverages with care, including espresso coffee.

Your opportunity

As a Café and Functions Assistant, you'll be doing more than serving coffee - you'll be creating an atmosphere that feels like home for our residents! Your key responsibilities include:

• Delivering top-notch customer service with warmth and a smile

• Preparing food and beverages with care, including crafting delicious espresso coffee

• Operating our POS system and managing payments effortlessly

• Ensuring the café is always tidy, welcoming, and ready for action - from setup to clean-up

• Supporting events and activities that bring life to our villages!

• Waitstaff All-Rounders who know how to read the room, carry three plates like second nature, and bring heart to every interaction. If you can make a proper barista coffee, pour a perfect glass of wine, and hold a conversation that makes someone's day - you're our kind of person.
• Food & Beverage Attendants with a calm, confident presence and a genuine love for hospitality. You'll help set the tone for warm, attentive service, keeping things running smoothly while making our guests feel truly looked after.

What you'll bring

Empathy to interact respectfully with elderly residents, attention to detail to follow dietary requirements, and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. You share our organisational values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence, and bring them to everything you do.

• Working with Children Check
• 6 months experiencein food service or front of house experience, along with barista skills

• Food Handling Certificate
• Hospitality and customer service experience
