Job summary

3 W Catering Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced, qualified Chef to join the kitchen team in Sydney, full-time. You will plan and prepare food and menus in conjunction with the Head Chef, producing quality Western and continental dishes for an à la carte menu in a timely and efficient manner.

You will also plan ingredients, portioning, marinating, and plating, order and stock inventories, supervise junior staff, ensure safety and hygiene, and manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (AQF) or equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience as a chef in a busy commercial kitchen.
• Knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare food and menus in conjunction with the Head Chef.
• Prepare a range of Western and continental dishes to an à la carte menu, producing quality food in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepare ingredients and recipes, including portioning, chopping, marinating, seasoning meats, and preparing salads and sauces.
• Order and stock food inventories, receive and check deliveries, rotate stock to avoid spoilage and help control costs and waste.
• Inspect dishes for quality, presentation and palatability.
• Supervise, train and support kitchen hands, junior kitchen staff, trainees and apprentices, including line cooking, food preparation and plating.
• Ensure kitchen staff can safely use and troubleshoot kitchen appliances and equipment.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, storage and sanitation standards and workplace safety regulations.
• Manage the kitchen team in the Head Chef's absence.
