Job summary

Stralis Energy is seeking experienced Civil Plant Operators for the New England Solar Farm near Armidale, NSW. You will operate excavators and civil plant to support trenching, backfilling and general site activities on large-scale solar and utility projects.

Casual position with roster options, above award hourly rates, and potential work on subsequent projects across Australia. Local candidates preferred, with rosters including 20 & 8 or Monday–Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators and civil plant machinery.
• Final Trim and non-GPS work experience.
• HR Licence desirable.
• White Card essential.
• Machine operating licences (Excavator, Telehandler) essential.
• Valid driver's licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and civil plant machinery to support civil and electrical construction works.
• Perform trenching, backfilling, material handling and general site activities.
• Adhere to safety standards and work as part of a project team.
• Rostered roster options: Monday to Saturday or 20 & 8 roster; pass pre-employment checks.

Stralis Energy is an electrical engineering company that specialises in large‑scale solar projects as well as underground and overhead HV distribution.

About the Role

We're seeking experienced Civil Plant Operators to join our team on the New England Solar Farm, located near Armidale, NSW, with opportunities to work on subsequent projects across Australia.

The role will involve operating excavators and other plant and machinery to support civil and electrical construction works, including trenching, backfilling, material handling and general site activities.

We welcome applications from local candidates, and candidates travelling to the project on a roster basis.

This is a casual position with a start in mid to late August.

• Monday to Saturday or 20 & 8 roster.
• Above award hourly rates and applicable penalty rates.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience operating excavators and other civil plant and machinery, including trenching and civil construction works.
• Experienced with Final Trim & non-GPS works
• Drivers Licence is essential.
• HR Licence is desirable.
• White Card is essential.
• Machine operating licences such as Excavator and Telehandler are essential.

• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery.
• Must be an experienced, competent and safety‑conscious plant operator.
• Experience working on utility network projects, including Essential Energy or Energex, is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively on large-scale construction projects while adhering to strict safety standards and procedures.
• Show good attention to detail and have the ability to work in a team environment with a can‑do attitude.
• Be fit and able to pass a pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol test.
• Able to pass daily breath testing and random drug testing on site.
