Job summary

Pro Civil Works is seeking experienced Plant Operators for regional civil projects across NSW. You’ll join a travelling crew, operate excavators and other civil plant, and work on bulk earthworks, trenching, and road construction.

Applicants must have plant tickets, a current Australian driver’s licence, and a Construction White Card. A living-away-from-home roster with accommodation is provided, and long-term regional opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience operating plant on civil construction projects.
• Strong excavator operating experience across 5T–30T machines.
• Experience in bulk earthworks and detailed excavation.
• Experience around services and underground infrastructure.
• Commitment to safe excavation practices and daily inspections.
• Ability to work effectively in a crew and stay reliable.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant including excavators, loaders, rollers, and other civil equipment as required.
• Perform bulk earthworks, trenching, pit and pipe, and road construction tasks.
• Coordinate with crew, monitor safety, and inspect equipment daily.
• Assist with general site duties and support regional projects on roster.

Plant Operator – Regional Civil Projects

Regional NSW | Living Away From Home | Accommodation Provided

Pro Civil Works is seeking experienced Plant Operators to join our team on regional civil infrastructure projects across NSW.

This role will suit operators who are comfortable working away from home for extended periods and operating as part of a travelling civil crew. You must be prepared to work a living-away-from-home roster, with accommodation provided while working on regional projects.

We are looking for reliable, capable operators who take pride in their equipment, understand civil construction, work safely, and can contribute to a productive crew without needing constant supervision.

The Role

Depending on your experience, you may operate equipment including:

• Excavators from approximately 5T through to 30T
• Skid steers / compact track loaders
• Loaders
• Rollers
• Tippers and other civil plant
• Excavators fitted with augers and attachments

Typical works may include:

• Bulk earthworks
• Detailed excavation
• Trenching
• Pit and pipe installation
• Foundation and footing excavations
• Road and access track construction
• Site preparation and trimming
• Backfilling and compaction
• General civil works associated with electrical and infrastructure projects

About You

We are looking for operators who have:

• Demonstrated experience operating plant on civil construction projects
• Strong excavator operating experience
• Experience in bulk earthworks and detailed excavation
• Experience working around services and underground infrastructure
• A good understanding of safe excavation practices
• Ability to complete daily plant inspections and look after equipment
• Ability to work effectively within a crew
• Strong reliability and attendance
• A practical, safety-focused attitude
• Willingness to assist with general site duties when required

Experience working on substations, utilities, renewable energy, transmission, distribution or other major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

• Current Australian driver's licence
• Relevant plant tickets / VOCs
• Construction White Card
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
• Ability and willingness to work away from home on a roster
• Flexibility to travel to regional NSW projects

Living Away From Home

This is an important part of the position.

Our regional crews work on projects away from Sydney and other metropolitan areas. Applicants must be genuinely comfortable with:

• Travelling to regional project locations
• Working a living-away-from-home roster
• Staying away for the duration of each roster swing
• Working extended project hours where required
• Returning home during rostered breaks

Accommodation is provided while working away from home.

This role will not suit someone looking exclusively for local Monday-to-Friday work.
