Job summary

MGP Civil is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team on Sydney Water water and sewer infrastructure projects across Sydney. You will operate excavators safely and efficiently around existing services, working closely with Supervisors and site crews to deliver projects to a high standard.

Experience on Sydney Water projects is essential, with a strong focus on WHS and exclusion zones. This role offers ongoing work with a supportive team and the potential for ongoing employment

Qualifications

• Proven Sydney Water project experience is essential.
• Experience operating excavators around existing underground services.
• White Card and valid Excavator VOC.
• Current Driver Licence with reliable transport.
• Safety-minded with ability to follow site procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently (3t–50t)
• Excavate around live underground services
• Trench, lay pipes, backfill
• Work within exclusion zones
• Assist with civil and plumbing tasks as needed
• Coordinate with Supervisors and site crews
• Complete daily plant pre-starts
• Follow SWMS and WHS requirements
• Perform general labouring when required
• Maintain a clean, safe, productive work site

We are looking for someone with proven experience working on Sydney Water projects and operating excavators safely and efficiently around existing services.

About the Role

You will be responsible for operating excavators across a range of water and sewer construction activities, working closely with our Supervisors and site crews to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Sydney Water experience is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of excavators (ranging from 3t - 50t)
• Excavation around existing and live underground services
• Trenching, pipework and backfilling
• Working within designated exclusion zones
• Assisting site crews with general civil and plumbing activities as required
• Working closely with Supervisors and other site personnel
• Completing daily plant pre-starts
• Following SWMS, site procedures and all WHS requirements
• General labouring where required
• Maintaining a clean, safe and productive work environment

Requirements

• Proven experience working on Sydney Water projects – essential
• Experienced excavator operator with civil construction experience
• Experience working around existing underground services
• White Card
• Current Driver Licence and reliable transport
• Current Excavator VOC
• Good understanding of WHS requirements, exclusion zones and safe excavation practices
• Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual and safety-focused attitude
