Job summary

YTB Plumbing Pty Ltd on the Gold Coast seeks a highly experienced Civil Excavator Operator. You will join a skilled crew to perform precise earthworks for water and sewer infrastructure, around live services, working with engineers and plumbers to keep projects moving.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years operating excavators in civil construction, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' civil excavator operating experience preferred.
• Excavator ticket/competency essential.
• Water and sewer infrastructure experience highly regarded.
• Construction White Card and a current driver’s licence required.

Responsibilities

• Excavate for water and sewer mains and connections with precision.
• Work around live and existing services maintaining safety.
• Operate across a range of civil infrastructure projects.
• Daily machine checks and care of equipment.
• Read and interpret civil plans alongside the crew.
• Load, backfill and site preparation tasks as needed.

We’re looking for a highly experienced CIVIL Excavator Operator – not just someone with an excavator ticket.

This role is for an operator with strong hands-on civil construction experience, ideally across water and sewer infrastructure, who is confident working around live services and can operate accurately and efficiently without needing constant direction.

We’re looking for someone who knows their machine, understands what's happening on the ground and works with the crew to keep the job moving.

Ideally, you'll have 5+ years' experience operating excavators in civil construction.

EXCAVATOR OPERATOR – CIVIL | GOLD COAST

$48-$62 p/hr + super + OT | Full-time | Gold Coast

The work includes:

• Excavation for water and sewer mains and connections
• Working around live and existing services
• Detailed and precision excavation
• Trenching and working to levels/grades
• Deep excavations
• Excavating around existing infrastructure
• Working alongside civil plumbers and pipe layers
• Loading, backfilling and site preparation
• Reading and understanding civil plans
• Operating across a variety of civil infrastructure projects
• Daily machine checks and looking after your equipment

What we're looking for:

• Minimum 5 years' civil excavator operating experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience operating excavators on civil construction projects
• Experience excavating around live services
• Water and sewer infrastructure experience highly regarded
• Excavator ticket/competency
• Construction White Card
• Current driver's licence
• Strong understanding of levels and civil works
• Excellent machine control and attention to detail
• Strong safety awareness
• Able to work independently without constant supervision
• Able to work effectively with plumbers, pipe layers and supervisors
• Reliable, productive and willing to work reasonable overtime when required

HR licence, confined space, spotter and other relevant civil tickets are highly regarded.

We are specifically looking for an experienced operator

If your experience is primarily general earthworks, bulk excavation or occasional machine operation, this may not be the right role.

We're particularly interested in operators who have spent significant time working on water and sewer infrastructure and around live services.
