Job summary

WEM Water, a Sydney Water accredited provider, is looking for experienced Excavator Operators to join our team across Greater Sydney water and sewer infrastructure projects. We require hands-on experience with 35T excavators and strong trenching/benching skills.

You will operate safely on site, coordinate with spotters and pipe layers, and follow site plans, site safety procedures and SWMS. WEM Water offers competitive wages, allowances, regular overtime and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience operating 35T excavators in civil construction.
• Deep trenching and benching experience required.
• Experience on Sydney Water or water/sewer projects is highly regarded.
• Construction White Card and valid driver's licence required.
• Safety-focused with high standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate 35T excavators safely and efficiently across water and sewer infrastructure projects.
• Undertake deep trenching, excavation and benching works to required levels and specifications.
• Excavate around existing underground services and utilities with appropriate care and controls.
• Complete backfilling, material placement and detailed excavation as required.
• Coordinate closely with spotters, pipe layers and supervisors during excavation activities.
• Work to site plans, levels, markings and project specifications.
• Work in accordance with Sydney Water requirements, SWMS and site safety procedures.
• Complete daily plant inspections and basic maintenance, including checking oil levels and greasing.
• Keep plant and equipment clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Work closely with site crews to safely and efficiently deliver project outcomes and meet project timelines.
• Assist with other site activities as required to support the broader project team.

The Opportunity

WEM Water is looking for experienced Excavator Operators to join our growing team, working across water and sewer infrastructure projects throughout Greater Sydney.

We’re looking for skilled operators with experience operating 35T excavators, strong deep trenching and benching skills, and previous experience working on Sydney Water projects.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators in civil construction, including 35T excavators.
• Strong experience in deep trenching and benching.
• Previous Sydney Water or water and sewer infrastructure experience highly regarded.
• Excavator VOC highly regarded, but not essential.
• Construction White Card and current Driver’s Licence.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to travel between project sites across Greater Sydney.
