Job summary

Transcend Managed Services in Cranbourne West, VIC, is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to own estimates from drawings to quotation, assessing quantities, fabrication requirements and costs. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy construction.
• Proven structural steel estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of fabrication, welding and erection processes.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Measure steel quantities and determine fabrication and welding requirements.
• Prepare detailed structural steel fabrication estimates and quotations.
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Assess project costs, risks and variations.
• Maintain contact with clients regarding quotations and project requirements.
• Assist with project planning and management.
• Purchase project materials and arrange equipment hire.
• Coordinate inspection and site erection requirements.
• Supervise personnel and subcontractors as required.

Structural Steel Estimator

Cranbourne West | $100,000 – $110,000 + Super

Permanent Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to take ownership of estimates from initial drawings and detailed quantity take-offs through to quotation, assessing steel quantities, fabrication requirements, costs and project risks.

This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role suited to someone who understands structural steel fabrication, is comfortable dealing with clients and suppliers, and enjoys supporting the planning and coordination of successful projects beyond the initial estimate.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Confident dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Good commercial awareness and communication skills.
• Understanding of ISO 3834 and AS/NZS 5131.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet tender and project deadlines.
