Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment in Canberra is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our commercial construction team. You will prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across a diverse range of projects.

You will collaborate with pre-construction and delivery teams, subcontractors and suppliers to price accurately, identify risks, and develop methodologies while building strong relationships in the ACT market.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating for commercial construction projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specs.
• Experience tendering from review to submission.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of commercial construction projects. You’ll work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are priced accurately and strategically. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders
• Reviewing plans, specifications, scopes and contract documentation
• Preparing subcontractor and supplier packages and managing the tender process

About You

We’re looking for an Estimator who combines strong technical estimating skills with a commercial mindset and a good understanding of the Canberra construction market.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the commercial construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials and processes
• The ability to interpret architectural, structural and services drawings
• Experience preparing tenders from initial review through to submission
• Strong subcontractor and supplier relationships
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
• Relevant construction, quantity surveying or estimating qualifications are advantageous
• You must be an Australian Citizen to apply for this role.
