Job summary

Nufarm Australia is seeking an Environmental Specialist to embed environmental values across the Pipe Road Laverton North site. You will focus on compliance, risk management, waste minimisation and EMS development aligned with ISO 14001.

You will coach the manufacturing team, work with stakeholders on environmental systems, and support reporting and regulatory obligations while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Qualifications

• Experience with Environmental Guidelines and ISO 14001 standards.
• Experience maintaining Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certifications.
• Ability to guide a diverse group of stakeholders on environmental issues in a high‑risk manufacturing setting.
• Background in chemical manufacturing or process industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental management support to the Pipe Road facility.
• Provide onsite coaching and mentoring to the Pipe Road manufacturing team on environmental management.
• Conduct onsite environmental site work including water and soil sampling and general field work.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on EMS improvements and continuous environmental improvement.
• Coordinate Pipe Road incident reporting and investigation processes.
• Coordinate Management of Change reporting and analysis processes.
• Assist with meeting EPA licences, waste classification, trade waste, etc.
• Participate in internal, external and corporate HSE audits as required.
• Represent Nufarm Australia at community forums.

Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road manufacturing facility, we are looking to engage an experienced and results-oriented Environmental Specialist to join us. Within your role you will be responsible for embedding environmental values within the Nufarm business and continuously striving for and driving continuous improvement in the environmental and sustainability space. The role has a strong focus on environmental compliance, risk management, waste minimisation and disposal strategies, and on the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that are aligned with ISO 14001.

• Providing environmental management support to the Pipe Roadfacility.
• Providing onsite coaching and mentoring to the Pipe Road manufacturing team to facilitate effective environmental management.
• Conduct various onsite environmental site work including water sampling, soil sampling and other general field work.
• Collaborating with stakeholders on effective environmental management systems to ensure environmental stewardship and continuous improvement occurs.
• Support the coordination of Pipe Road incident reporting and investigation processes.
• Support the coordination of Pipe Road Management of Change reporting and analysis processes.
• Assist Pipe Rd in meeting legal and regulatory requirements (EPA Operating Licence, Waste Classification, Trade Waste Agreements, etc)
• Involvement where required in Nufarm's various HSE committees.
• Ensuring submission of the Pipe Road annual corporate Sustainability Reports and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Working with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental compliance testing programs.
• Conduct regular in-field proactive interactions with the wider Pipe Road manufacturing team to ensure environmental systems and processes are adhered to.
• Providing effective leadership and subject matter expertise in environmental continuous improvement and sharing of best practices at Pipe Road.
• Participating in Internal, External and Corporate HSE Audits where required.
• Represent Nufarm Australia at the relevant community forums (i.e. Community Reference Groups)

Could This Be You?

We are looking for a knowledgeable and driven Environmental Specialist with experience within a similar Hazard Facility Environment (MHF). As our ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Environmental Guidelines and ISO 14001 standards and experience in maintaining strong Environmental Management Systems (EMS). You will use this experience to assist our manufacturing facilities in maintaining its ISO14001 certification.

You are a resilient, effective communicator with the ability to guide and influence a diverse group of stakeholders on environmental issues within a busy chemical manufacturing or process industry environment.
