Job summary

Nepean Private Hospital, part of Healthscope, is seeking Environmental Services Assistants to support operating theatres with high standards of cleanliness. The role is casual and requires you to work across shifts, including weekends, in a collaborative team environment.

You will contribute to infection control, assist with restocking and equipment handling, and communicate effectively with nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Demonstrated customer service orientation in healthcare/hospitality settings.
• Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in operating suites.
• Clean, restock and store equipment in appropriate areas.
• Uphold infection control protocols and precautions.
• Dispose of general and clinical waste safely.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure quality outcomes.
• Possess Working with Children check and meet role requirements.
• Be available for on-call shifts, including weekends.

We are seeking Environmental Services Assistants to work across our operating suites on a Casual basis. This opportunity will have you being a part of a brilliant team of people responsible for providing the highest standards of cleanliness.

About us

Nepean Private Hospital is located in the multi-cultural Western Sydney City of Penrith. The hospital is a modern 109 bed facility providing a wide range of health services to the local community since 2000 including: orthopaedics, spinal, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, urology and general surgery, endoscopy, cardiology, cardiac angiography and obstetrics. Nepean Private Hospital has eight operating Theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheterisation theatre and an endoscopy suite, supported by a critical care unit which includes intensive care.

It is an exciting time for Nepean Private Hospital. We are investing in our future with an exciting $38M redevelopment which will see our Hospital grow to meet the needs of our growing community with 4 new operating theatres, purpose built pre-admission area, new sterilising department, new foyer and retail space, new consulting suites, refurbished main entry and a new car park. And we have just purchased a new $3.5Million Da Vinci Robot to expand our complex surgery program. Nepean Private Hospital has established an excellent reputation in the community for its high commitment to customer service, staff satisfaction and quality improvement

As an Environmental Service Assistant your responsibilities will include

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness to operating theatres
• Ensuring all equipment utilised on shifts is cleaned, restocked and stored in the appropriate storage areas
• Upholding infection control standards by adhering to standard protocols and any additional precautions
• Disposing of soiled general and clinical waste
• Working in a friendly and supportive manner at all times
• Maintaining communication networks with nursing staff and other stakeholders ensuring quality clinical outcomes are achieved
• Previous cleaning experience in Healthcare/hotel/airline cleaning
• Working with Children check
• Commitment to service excellence.
• Proven time management skills and ability to manage priorities
• Strong communication and customer skills
• Work well independently and within a team
• Available for on call shifts including weekends
