Job summary

Argo Coal Management Pty Ltd in Queensland's Bowen Basin seeks an Environmental Coordinator for Carborough Downs. You will report to the Environmental Manager and help ensure day-to-day environmental compliance across Carborough and our CHPP, supporting project teams and maintaining high standards across multiple sites.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to environmental reporting.
  • Engage with site teams to promote environmental awareness and best practices.

Carborough Downs underground Bord and Pillar mine is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, approximately 30km north-east of Moranbah and 160km from Mackay and forms part of the broader Argo Complex. This integrated mining complex includes the Ironbark Longwall Mine and Broadlea Open Cut, as well as a centralised Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), where collaboration between our sites and teams is key to delivering safe and efficient outcomes.

In this role, you will report the Environmental Coordinator and play a key part in ensuring day-to-day environmental compliance at Carborough and our CHPP, supporting project teams, and maintaining high standards across multiple sites and activities. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and contractors to manage risks, meet regulatory obligations, and drive continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and support compliance with environmental approvals, licences, and legislation
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring activities
  • Assist in the implementation of environmental management plans and procedures
  • Support incident investigations and reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to environmental reporting
  • Engage with site teams to promote environmental awareness and best practices quality, and engage clients and stakeholders to innovate and improve site outcomes.
ABOUT YOU
  • Experience in an environmental role within industries such as construction, infrastructure, mining, or utilities
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Relevant qualification in environmental science, management, or a related field
