Job summary

SLR Consulting Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an Environmental Consultant to join the Environmental Approvals, Closure and Management team in Perth/Subiaco. This permanent, full-time role targets early-career professionals with 1–3 years' experience in a similar role.

The role involves building client relationships, contributing to EIAs and licence applications, working with the Planning team on urban and energy infrastructure projects, and supporting audits and environmental management

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years experience in consulting or related field.
• Ability to work autonomously and learn from diverse projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full working rights in Australia.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of WA, NT and Commonwealth environmental legislation would be an advantage.
• Experience in mining, infrastructure, power or agribusiness sectors.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and SLR team members.
• Contribute to environmental impact assessments and licence applications.
• Collaborate with Planning on urban and energy infrastructure projects.
• Assist auditors with desktop and site audits and inspections.
• Assist with development of environmental management.
• Work within and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects.

We provide advice and support on a wide range of sustainability challenges to a diverse and growing range of business, regulatory and governmental clients.

An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Consultant to join our Environmental Approvals, Closure and Management team. This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Perth/Subiaco office.

We are looking to connect with early-career consultants, who hold between 1-3 years' experience within a similar role. Our Perth team works closely with our Darwin office, providing opportunity to work across both WA and NT projects. Collaborate across multiple disciplines across the business and support to develop with a long-term approach to develop your career as an environmental consultant.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Building and maintaining effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members
• Contribute to the preparation of environmental impact assessments and licence applications
• Work alongside our Planning team on urban and energy infrastructure projects
• Assist our accredited auditors with desktop and site audits and inspections
• Assisting with the development of environmental management
• Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors
• Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports
• Occasional travel to undertake field studies and short secondments opportunities may become available.

Skills and experience

• A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
• Hold between 1-3 years + experience within the consulting industry or related field
• The ability to work autonomously, and the drive to learn from a variety of exciting projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Full working rights in Australia
• A valid Driver's License.
• The following would be highly valued, but are not pre-requisites: Working knowledge of WA, NT and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policies, standards, and guidelines would be a benefit
• Experience in the mining, infrastructure, power and/or agribusiness sectors.
