Job summary

SLR Consulting Australia Pty Ltd in Mackay is seeking an Environmental Consultant with 3+ years' experience to join our Environmental Approvals, Management & Closure team. You will work on mining, infrastructure and other projects across the region, developing client relationships and delivering high-quality reports.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary national team, contribute to environmental approvals, and occasionally travel for field studies, training and business development.

Qualifications

• A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in Environmental Consulting.
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary projects is preferred but not required.

• Develop, facilitate, and enhance relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Mine Rehabilitation and Closure Plans.
• Plans of Operations/Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven & experienced Environmental Consultant to join our internationally recognised Environmental Approvals, Management & Closure team, from our established Mackay office. Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will have 3+ years’ experience in Environmental Consulting. Regulatory and/or mining experience will be viewed favourably but is not required, with the right attitude and aptitude we will provide you with training and guidance. You will enjoy undertaking project work whilst learning from an experienced team and developing client relationships throughout the region. You will also collaborate on exciting projects and initiatives with the national team and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business.

Responsibilities

• Developing, facilitating, and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members
• Mine Rehabilitation and Closure Plans
• Plans of Operations/Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans
• Environment management & ESG Mining approvals
• Providing advice regarding best practice environmental impact assessment and management principles to clients and internal SLR team members
• Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors
• Delivering clear and precise, high quality reports
• Occasional travel to undertake field studies

Experience

To be successful in this role, you will be a positive and engaging character with a great sense of humour as well as have:

• A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field 3 years + experience in Environmental Science, preferably in Consulting.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
• Working knowledge of QLD environmental legislation and policies, standards, and guidelines
• Experience in the mining, infrastructure, power and/or agribusiness sectors is highly valued but not a prerequisite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Consulting software and intermediate-advanced excel skills.
• Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
