Job description

The Enterprise Planning Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for owning the integratedforward view of the Bureau’s IT strategy, plans, asset lifecycle priorities, disaster recoveryreadiness and technology capacity needs. The role provides enterprise-level leadership to ensurecompute, storage, network, cloud and platform demand is forecast, prioritised and aligned withbusiness direction, financial planning and technology strategy. Working across delivery, operations, architecture, cyber security and business stakeholders, the role drives an integrated and risk-informed planning approach that addresses technical debt, lifecycle risks, resiliencerequirements and future service demand. The position also provides authoritative advice toportfolio, investment, financial and risk governance forums to support informed decisions ontechnology planning and asset management.

Broadly this role has the following remit:

• Leading IT planning and asset management: Own the integrated forward view of the ITStrategy and Plans, IT asset planning, lifecycle risks, disaster recovery readiness and ITcapacity needs.
• Capacity planning: Ensure future demand for compute, storage, network, cloud and platformservices is forecast, planned, funded and aligned with business and IT asset plans.
• IT asset management planning: Coordinate the ICT asset planning process by ensuring thepriorities of all asset management plans are complete, aligned to defined asset lifecycles, andaddress technical debt, disaster recovery gaps and platform constraints.
• Disaster recovery and resilience: Ensure the organisation has a planned, tested and fundedapproach to recovering critical IT services following disruption.
• Planning advice: Provide key advice into planning, portfolio, financial and risk governanceforums related to decisions on IT planning and asset management.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Lead integrated IT planning: Own and maintain the forward view of IT strategy, plans,asset priorities, lifecycle risks, disaster recovery readiness and capacity requirements,ensuring these are coordinated across business and technology domains.
• Drive enterprise capacity planning: Establish and oversee planning for compute,storage, network, cloud and platform demand, ensuring future needs are forecast, costed,prioritised and aligned to business demand, service roadmaps and investment decisions.
• Coordinate ICT asset management planning: Lead the ICT asset planning processacross asset domains, ensuring plans are complete, prioritised and aligned to lifecyclestage, technical risk, resilience requirements, platform constraints and remediation oftechnical debt.
• Strengthen disaster recovery and resilience: Ensure critical IT services havedocumented, tested and funded recovery approaches, and that disaster recovery prioritiesare integrated into asset, platform and investment planning.
• Provide strategic advice to governance forums: Deliver high-quality advice andrecommendations to planning, portfolio, financial, architectural and risk governance forumson priorities, trade-offs, investment needs and planning risks related to IT assets andservices.
• Lead stakeholder engagement and collaboration: Build strong relationships withbusiness leaders, service owners, architects, delivery teams, finance and operationalstakeholders to ensure plans are informed, realistic and integrated.
• Manage planning risks and dependencies: Identify emerging lifecycle, capacity,resilience and delivery risks, and drive mitigation strategies that balance businesscontinuity, operational performance, cost and long-term sustainability.
• Lead and develop capability: Provide leadership to planning and asset managementstaff, fostering a high-performing team culture, continuous improvement and strongplanning discipline across the Bureau.
