Job summary

Sigma Healthcare Limited is seeking a Database Engineering Manager to lead the Database Engineering function, shaping our enterprise data capability and platforms. You will guide a team responsible for building, operating and improving our data pipelines and services to ensure security, scalability and performance across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data or database engineering, including 5+ years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing database or data engineering teams.
• Strong capability in setting direction, defining priorities and aligning team outcomes with business objectives.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across technology and business teams.
• Deep expertise in data engineering principles, ETL/ELT processes and enterprise data solution design.
• Extensive experience with enterprise data platforms, including on-premises databases and cloud data warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and operation of enterprise database and data platforms across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Ensure the availability, performance, security and reliability of production database services.
• Establish and maintain technical standards, best practices and operational processes.
• Drive automation, DevOps and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency and service delivery.
• Plan workloads, projects and resources to support operational and strategic priorities.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and align database initiatives with broader organisational objectives.
• Lead, coach and develop the Database Engineering team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Set clear goals, KPIs and development plans, while supporting effective performance management.
