Job summary

Sigma Healthcare is seeking a seasoned Database Engineering Manager to lead the Database Engineering function and shape our enterprise data capability. You will provide technical leadership for building and improving our data platforms, pipelines and services.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you’ll drive best practices, scale, security, and reliability while mentoring a high-performing team in a hybrid work model across our Preston-based location.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum eight years in data or database engineering with five+ in leadership.
• Proven experience leading high-performing database teams.
• Ability to set direction and align with business objectives.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and operation of enterprise database platforms across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Ensure availability, performance, security and reliability of production databases.
• Establish standards, best practices and operational processes.
• Drive automation, DevOps and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency.
• Plan workloads, projects and resources to support operational and strategic priorities.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and align database initiatives with broader organisational objectives.
