Job summary

MyChemist Retail Group is seeking a senior Database Engineering Leader in Melbourne to design, implement and operate enterprise data platforms across cloud and on-premises. You will drive availability, security and performance for production services while shaping technical standards and roadmaps.

You will lead a team, set clear goals and KPIs, and collaborate with HR on talent development and budget planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise database platforms across cloud and on-premises environments
• Ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of production database services
• Define and maintain technical standards, best practices, and operational processes
• Drive automation, DevOps, and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency and service delivery
• Plan workloads, projects, and resources to meet operational and strategic objectives
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and align database initiatives with organisational strategy
• Lead and develop the Database Engineering team to meet business needs
• Set clear goals, KPIs, and development plans, and manage performance effectively
• Recruit and retain talent in partnership with HR
• Foster a collaborative, safe, and high-performing team culture
• Manage departmental budget where applicable
