Job summary

Southern Grampians Shire Council in Hamilton, VIC is seeking a Communications Officer to bring Council's stories to life across digital, print, media and face-to-face channels. You will develop content, manage the Council's digital presence, coordinate media and public enquiries, and support engagement activities.

Working with the Senior Communications Coordinator, you will provide strategic advice, strengthen relationships with local media and community groups, and help deliver Council projects

Qualifications

• Qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Multimedia, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience creating content across digital and print channels.
• Experience managing e-newsletters and digital platforms.
• Skills in photography and videography.
• Understanding of media relations and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver engaging content across digital, social media and internal channels.
• Manage Council websites, intranet and newsletters.
• Develop surveys and engagement activities for community feedback.
• Support communication strategies for projects and initiatives.
• Research, write and publish media releases, newsletters and posts.
• Assist with media relations and public notices.
• Provide communication advice to staff.
• Build relationships with community, media and stakeholders.
• Use digital tools to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Contribute to a collaborative team and provide customer service.
