Job summary

AEMO, Australia’s independent energy system operator, is seeking a strategist to help shape the nation’s energy future. You will translate long-term aims into practical plans, lead enterprise-wide planning, and ensure coordination with financial and investment objectives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Reporting to the General Manager Strategy, you will mentor junior team members, present at the Board level, and drive continuous improvement in planning and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategy development or corporate planning.
• Translate strategy into actionable plans with clear recommendations.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement for executive audiences.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships and drive collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual strategic and corporate planning processes.
• Align priorities with divisional plans, financial outcomes, and investments.
• Develop compelling justifications for strategic initiatives with stakeholder value in mind.
• Oversee strategic performance reporting for Board and ELT, driving continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
