Harrison McMillan Pty Ltd in Adelaide is seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer for a contract role to manage end-to-end fortnightly and monthly payroll for a large, diverse workforce.

You will reconcile timesheets, handle new starters and terminations, respond to payroll queries, ensure compliance with awards and legislation, and drive continuous improvement in payroll processes. This is a collaborative role within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of Chris21 or similar payroll systems.
• Knowledge of FBT, payroll tax, and workers’ compensation.
• Understanding of current awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in customer service environments.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• Collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end fortnightly and monthly payroll for approximately 1,500 employees.
• Process new starters, terminations and final payments.
• Complete timesheet and leave reconciliations accurately and within deadlines.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Respond to payroll enquiries and provide timely updates to employees.
• Maintain accurate, confidential payroll records.
• Assist with end-of-month payroll procedures, payments and reporting.
• Support end-of-financial-year and FBT payroll processes and reporting.
• Complete payroll-related audits and reconciliations across systems.
• Apply relevant legislation, awards, Enterprise Agreements, policies and procedures.
• Provide advice regarding superannuation, salary sacrifice and employee contributions.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and service delivery.
