Job summary

Absolute Payroll in Adelaide's CBD seeks a Senior Payroll Officer to own end-to-end payroll, ensure accuracy, and keep processes audit-ready. You will operate in a small team delivering timely payroll and reporting across weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end cycles.

This role offers a 3‑month initial contract with a strong potential for permanency, with 5 days in the office and highly flexible hours. Experience with ADP is a bonus, and you will liaise with stakeholders and support compliance.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll processing experience in a corporate or consulting environment.
• Ability to deliver accurate payroll and improve reconciliation processes.
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxation, superannuation, and year-end reporting.
• Experience supporting audits and liaising with external bodies.
• Mentor junior staff and promote best practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a small team (3 people).
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
• Handle month-end and year-end reconciliations between payroll and finance systems.
• Deliver payroll tax filings, superannuation, and year-end reporting.
• Support internal and external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Mentor and support junior payroll staff and promote best practice.
• Monitor payroll legislation changes and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Contribute to process improvements and general finance admin.
