Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking an Employment Coach in Bankstown, NSW, to support people living with disability or health conditions toward sustainable employment. The role is on-site with outreach across the local community, focusing on assessment, planning, job readiness, and placement support.

You'll build confidence, connect with inclusive employers, and deliver personalised employment supports, including resumes, interview prep, and ongoing career development.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III/IV in Community Services or related field (or actively pursuing).
  • Minimum two years' experience in employment services, preferably with disability or barriers.
  • Experience with vulnerable communities and achieving employment goals.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Trauma-informed approach; resilience in target-driven environment.
  • Genuine passion for diverse communities; Mandarin/Cantonese language skills are highly regarded.
  • Full driver licence; national police history check and working with children/vulnerable people clearance.

Your Opportunity

At Mission Australia's Inclusive Employment Australia service, success is about more than finding someone a job. It is about helping people build confidence, overcome barriers and create meaningful opportunities that have a lasting impact on their lives. As an Employment Coach, you will work alongside people living with disability, injury or health conditions, supporting them to prepare for, secure and maintain sustainable employment while achieving greater independence and wellbeing. Based in Bankstown with regular outreach across the local community, this is an on-site position where you will manage a diverse caseload and provide personalised support from initial assessment through to long term employment outcomes. Using a strengths based and participant led approach, you will empower people to build job readiness skills, navigate challenges, connect with inclusive employers and reach their employment goals. Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of participants and provide tailored support throughout their employment journey.
  • Complete participant assessments, identify barriers to employment and develop individualised employment plans.
  • Deliver practical employment support including resumes, applications, interview preparation and job search activities.
  • Build strong relationships with participants to maintain engagement, motivation and progress towards goals.
  • Develop and maintain connections with local employers to identify suitable employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with support services, community organisations and other stakeholders to coordinate participant supports.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes and compliance documentation while meeting program requirements and performance outcomes.
Requirements for Success
  • Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Employment Services, Career Counselling or a related field, or actively working towards.
  • Minimum two years' experience within employment services, preferably supporting people with disability or other barriers to employment.
  • Experience working with vulnerable communities and supporting people to achieve employment, education or personal development goals.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to engage participants, employers and service providers.
  • Resilience, perseverance and the ability to remain motivated in a target driven and sometimes high pressure environment.
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviours, resolving conflict and responding with a trauma informed approach.
  • Genuine passion for supporting people from diverse backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities, with Mandarin or Cantonese language skills highly regarded.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.
  • Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
