Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a Team Leader for the Community Living Support (CLS) program in Nowra. You will lead a small team while staying connected to frontline delivery, guiding recovery-oriented support for clients with mental health challenges and reporting to the Program Manager.

You’ll supervise six staff, ensure high-quality service, and collaborate with area leadership to meet program goals, while upholding our values of respect, inclusion and empowerment.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring, coaching and supervising staff in the community services sector.
• Experience working within community mental health services.
• Understanding of mental health, mental health systems and recovery-oriented practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, coaching and performance management to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Conduct regular case-reviews and supervise staff to ensure effective review of client recovery plans and monitor service delivery and outcomes.
• Manage a small caseload of clients, delivering person-centred and recovery-oriented support.
• Work collaboratively with the Area Manager to achieve program goals and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements, and best practice standards.
• Monitor service delivery, manage risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, families, and community services.

CLS provides planned, person‑centred supports within clear service frameworks, promoting independence, safety and meaningful participation in community life, supporting people with mental health challenges to live and recover in the community in the way that they want to. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader to join the CLS Program. This role offers the opportunity to both lead a small team and remain connected to frontline service delivery. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide strong leadership and day‑to‑day operational oversight to a small team of six exceptional people who provide support to clients with severe and persistent mental health issues, while also maintaining a small caseload of clients to stay connected to client outcomes. You will play a key role in ensuring our services are delivered with empathy, integrity, and a strong focus on recovery and empowerment. About You

You are a confident and compassionate leader with a strong background in community services. You enjoy balancing leadership responsibilities with direct client work and are committed to helping people achieve independence and wellbeing.

Requirements for Success

• Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health or similar
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching and supervising staff within the community services sector
• Experience working within community mental health services
• A sound understanding of mental health, mental health systems and recovery-oriented practice, as well as psycho-social rehabilitation
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and support a small caseload
• Must have Full driver licence with no restrictions
• Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
