Job summary

Northern is looking for a People Advisor to join our team in Manchester on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE, 30 hours per week). You'll be the first point of contact for managers seeking guidance on Employee Relations, assisting with attendance, performance, investigations and absence management while upholding our policies and values.

You'll collaborate with the wider People team, provide practical advice, monitor progress, and escalate complex cases to Senior People Advisors.

Qualifications

• Associate CIPD membership or working towards Level 5.
• Experience in a generalist HR or People Advisory role.
• Understanding of employment law and employee relations.
• Experience supporting managers in unionised environments.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical advice on people policies and procedures.
• Support managers with ER cases, investigations, hearings and absence management.
• Coach managers to manage people fairly and confidently.
• Monitor case progress and ensure deadlines are met.
• Escalate complex cases and coordinate with Senior People Advisors.
• Build relationships with managers, Trade Union representatives and colleagues.
• Use data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Keep up to date with employment law and share best practices.
