Job summary

Broken Hill Mines is seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to join our Maintenance team in Broken Hill, NSW. This residential role focuses on planning, scheduling and coordinating electrical maintenance across mining and processing operations, working with the Maintenance Manager and engineers to ensure safe, on-time delivery within budget.

Permanent Full Time | Monday to Friday | 5/2, 4/3 Roster

Broken Hill Mines is seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to join our Maintenance team based in Broken Hill, NSW. This is a residential position and the successful candidate will be based in Broken Hill.

About the role

As the Electrical Planner, you will be responsible for the effective planning, scheduling and coordination of electrical maintenance activities across mining and processing operations. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, Electrical Coordinator, Reliability Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Supervisors and Mining and Milling teams, you will play an important role in ensuring maintenance activities are planned efficiently, safely and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Developing, implementing and continuously improving preventative and corrective maintenance strategies
• Planning and scheduling weekly, periodic and long-term electrical maintenance activities
• Coordinating planned shutdowns and electrical network outages
• Planning major electrical maintenance activities, including high-voltage maintenance
• Developing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and spare parts requirements within PRONTO
• Preparing weekly electrical maintenance work plans and ensuring maintenance priorities are effectively integrated with site production requirements
• Working closely with the Mining and Milling departments to coordinate infrastructure and maintenance requirements
• Assisting with electrical infrastructure projects and capital planning
• Working with OEMs, suppliers, Stores and contractors to ensure maintenance requirements are effectively managed
• Monitoring contractor hours and maintenance expenditure and assisting with operating and capital budgets

About you

• Extensive experience in electrical maintenance planning and scheduling
• Relevant trade, maintenance management and/or engineering qualifications
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems used in process plant and underground mining environments
• A sound understanding of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
• Experience using a maintenance management system such as PRONTO or a similar platform
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• High-level problem-solving and communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders
• A proactive approach to safety, risk management and continuous improvement

About Broken Hill Mines

The Rasp Mine is an operating silver-lead-zinc mine in Broken Hill, with a large Mineral Resource and a 750,000tpa processing plant. The mine has operated for over 120 years, producing zinc and lead concentrates sold globally. The Pinnacles Mine, situated 15km southwest of Broken Hill, is known for containing one of the area's highest-grade and shallowest silver-zinc-lead deposits.
