Job summary

CAE is seeking an experienced Navy Defence Instructor to deliver technical training for Defence personnel in classroom, simulator, and blended environments. Prior Navy exposure is highly regarded, with broader Defence and trade backgrounds welcomed.

The role requires a trade qualification and willingness to obtain Defence clearance. The position is onsite in Richmond, NSW, with opportunities to contribute across training materials and post‑course administration while supporting trainee

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in electrical or related technical discipline.
• Navy experience highly regarded; Defence background preferred.
• Defence security clearance eligibility and Australian citizenship required.
• Willingness to obtain Defence clearance and participate in safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructor‑led, blended and simulator‑based training to Defence personnel.
• Prepare, facilitate, assess and complete post‑course administration.
• Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Update training materials and maintain course content with subject‑matter experts.
• Collaborate with Defence customers to achieve high quality outcomes.

Role Overview

Join CAE’s Navy Defence team as an Instructor, delivering technical training that helps prepare Defence personnel for critical operations. This is a hands‑on role where you'll use your trade and technical expertise to facilitate engaging learning experiences across classroom, simulator, and blended learning environments. Prior Navy experience is highly regarded, although candidates from broader Defence and trade backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Description

• Deliver instructor-led, blended, and simulator-based training programs for Defence personnel
• Prepare, facilitate, assess, and complete post‑course administration activities
• Support trainee development by monitoring progress and providing feedback
• Use your technical expertise to maintain and improve training materials and course content.
• Work closely with Defence customers to ensure high‑quality training outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Trade qualification in an electrical, electronics, or related technical discipline.
• Previous Navy experience highly regarded, ideally within the Royal Australian Navy.
• Defence, military, or technical training experience preferred.
• Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116/TAE40122) or willingness to obtain.
• Must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and therefore be an Australian Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

• Navy technical instructor experience.
• Experience delivering training in a Defence environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Background working with electrical or electronic systems.
