Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment in Melbourne, VIC is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their growing team in Port Melbourne. You will own electrical tenders from initial documentation through to competitive submissions on commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will interpret drawings and specifications, perform detailed take-offs, price labour, materials and subcontractors, and liaise with clients and suppliers to secure strong margins.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within an electrical contractor or building services environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction methodologies, materials and installation.
• Experience estimating commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and scopes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive electrical tenders and estimates.
• Review project documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Complete detailed material, labour and subcontractor take-offs.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, variations and commercial opportunities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and the wider delivery team.
• Assist with tender presentations, negotiations and handovers.
• Maintain accurate estimating documentation and pricing records.
• Contribute to improving estimating processes and maintaining strong project margins.

The Opportunity

An established industry leading electrical services contractor is looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their growing team in Melbourne, Port Melbourne.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of electrical tenders across a range of commercial, industrial and critical infrastructure projects, working closely with the pre-construction, project delivery and commercial teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical construction and be confident taking a project from initial documentation through to a competitive and accurate tender submission.

Key Responsibilities

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within an electrical contractor or building services environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction methodologies, materials and installation.
• Experience estimating commercial, industrial, infrastructure or other complex electrical projects.
• The ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and scopes.
• Strong understanding of labour, material and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Relevant electrical engineering, trade or construction qualifications are advantageous.
