Job summary

Modus Projects seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer – BMS Programming to design, program, test and commission Building Management Systems across commercial and industrial projects in Australia. You will work with the Energy team to deliver high-performance BMS solutions that optimise energy use and ensure safe operation of building services.

The role requires tertiary electrical engineering qualifications and hands-on BMS experience with major platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing, programming and commissioning BMS on commercial/industrial projects.
• Experience with major BMS platforms (Schneider, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, electrical systems, instrumentation and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
• Experience producing technical documentation (control schematics, functional descriptions, drawings).
• Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and configure BMS control strategies and software logic.
• Program, test and commission BMS controllers and integrated building systems.
• Develop and maintain BMS documentation (control narratives, points lists, I/O schedules, as-builts).
• Integrate BMS with third-party systems (HVAC, lighting, power monitoring, security, metering).
• On-site commissioning, testing, tuning and optimisation for performance and energy efficiency.
• Diagnose and resolve software, network and instrumentation faults.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams to deliver projects on time.
• Provide technical support, training and guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with tenders, estimates and variations.
• Promote standardisation and innovative BMS engineering practices.
