Job summary

Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs in Sydney NSW is seeking an EL2 Director within the Coordinated Client Support (CCS) Branch. The role leads a trauma‑informed, time‑limited case management program and drives governance, reporting and learning and development across the branch.

You will oversee governance and data management, deliver high‑quality veteran‑centric practice, and shape strategies to support service delivery and wellbeing outcomes for veterans and their families.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction to the section and branch, including development of business plans, strategies, budgets and priorities and monitor workflow and performance.
Contribute to the Department’s strategic reform and operational business transformation to ensure quick and appropriate responses to a variety of competing priorities and/or vulnerable clients within assigned resources.
Provide leadership across the Department, particularly in adapting to rapidly changing circumstances.
Develop, coach and mentor employees, manage performance and conflict and identify training needs.
Provide high level advice to the DVA senior executive and, as required, to the Minister and Commissions.
Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Department in high level discussions and negotiations.
