CatholicCare Tasmania Early Learning & Care is seeking an Educator to support high-quality child care across our Tasmanian sites. You will work with children, families and staff to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate programs.

Essential qualifications include Cert III in Children’s Services, current first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis management certificates, and Working with Vulnerable People clearance.

CatholicCare Tasmania Early Learning & Care aims to provide care and Education of the highest quality. Children’s programs are planned to be developmentally appropriate and stimulating. Cultural and social inclusiveness together with family involvement in all aspects of the centre’s activities is vital to the functioning of this service.

How you will make an impact

Educators provide an important element in the overall delivery of quality care services by contributing their skills and experience and being pivotal in the care provided. As an educator it is important for carers to understand the needs of children and their families, being able to develop and sustain positive partnerships and be an advocate for the importance of quality assurance.

The position of Educator at a CatholicCare Tasmania Early Learning & Care is responsible for assisting in the provision of care services at sites at which CatholicCare Tasmania operates child care services.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, families, colleagues and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, exercising discretion, sound judgement and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of engaging, inclusive and age-appropriate educational and recreational programs for children.
• Support the individual learning, development, wellbeing and inclusion of children, recognising and responding to their diverse needs, interests and backgrounds.
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, stimulating and child-focused environment that promotes positive outcomes for all children.
• Ensure the ongoing health, safety and wellbeing of children through active supervision, administration of first aid and medication as required, and effective management of child-related records.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support compliance with relevant legislation, quality standards, licensing requirements, privacy obligations and child safeguarding frameworks.
• Promote CatholicCare Tasmania's commitment to safeguarding children and young people by adhering to all relevant policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
• Assist in managing children's behaviour and resolving conflicts in a positive, respectful and developmentally appropriate manner.
• Contribute to a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery, providing support to colleagues, students and trainees as required.

Selection Criteria

• Commitment to the vision, mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania.
• Broad understanding of the operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, the operations of the Catholic Church and the philosophy and core values of the Archdiocese of Hobart..
• Experience working with children or within a children's service.
• Sound knowledge of:
• National Quality Framework (2011).
• Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations (2011).
• Licensing Standards for Centre Based Care, Class 5.
• Current Emergency Asthma Management Certificate.
• Current Anaphylaxis Management Certificate.
• Current Supervisor Certificate from the Department of Education.

Essential Qualifications/Experience/Requirements

• Minimum Cert III in Children’s Services, or relevant experience.
• Minimum age requirement of 18 years to meet child care staffing ratio requirements
• Satisfactory police check
• A valid Working with Vulnerable People registration
• A first aid certificate.
