Job summary

TAFE NSW is seeking an Education Support Officer for Tourism & Hospitality, with location negotiable across NSW. The role strengthens student support services in Cuisine and Hospitality and includes supporting learners in both in-person and virtual environments.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma in Hospitality Management, strong hospitality industry experience, and proficiency with MS Office, LMS, and Microsoft Teams to assist students and colleagues effectively.

$96,098 salary package - includes base salary $84,666, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

This is a newly created role designed to strengthen student support services across our campus providing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational experience and success of learners in Cuisine and Hospitality, including our virtual delivery programs.

The Education Support Officer is supervised by the Head Teacher and works under the direction of a teacher as appropriate. You will play a key role in fostering engagement, removing barriers to learning, and ensuring positive student outcomes remain at the forefront of your decision-making.

About You

You will thrive in this role if you are passionate about hospitality and enjoy supporting others to achieve their goals. As part of a dynamic team, you will use your hospitality industry experience to assist students in navigating their learning materials, developing practical skills, and building confidence in their studies. You will contribute to a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student success and reflects current hospitality industry practices.

You will be confident using technology to support students in both face‑to‑face and virtual learning environments. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications, learning management systems, and online communication platforms including Microsoft Teams will enable you to effectively assist students, respond to enquiries, facilitate engagement, and provide administrative and learning support across a range of delivery modes.
We are looking for motivated and engaged individuals who can meet the following selection criteria:

  • Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications including a Diploma in Hospitality Management and demonstrated Hospitality Industry experience.
  • Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.

  • Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol/Responsible Conduct of Gambling competency card
