Job summary

TAFE NSW on the Gunnedah campus is seeking a dedicated Education Support Officer (ESO) with current Nursing knowledge to support Diploma of Nursing and TVET/ Health Service students, helping learners engage with material and understand course concepts.

The role is permanent part-time, three days per week, primarily on campus, reporting to the Head Teacher – Health, focusing on student learning and successful progression through studies.

$96,098 salary package – includes base salary $84,666, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (pro-rata)

About the role

We have an exciting permanent part-time opportunity for a creative and motivated individual with current industry knowledge and experience in Nursing to join our Gunnedah team as an Education Support Officer (ESO).

Working within a team of Nursing professionals, the Education Support Officer is supervised by the Head Teacher and is responsible for a range of activities that support learners and enhance the student learning experience. The position provides support to Diploma of Nursing students as well as TVET/SBT and mainstream Health Service Assistance students, assisting students to engage with their learning, develop their understanding of course concepts, and successfully progress through their studies.

This role is primarily campus-based and requires attendance on campus three days per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, to provide timely and effective support to students and the teaching team.

Note: This role does not teach, prepare lessons or learning resources, deliver training, or undertake assessment.

About you

You will love this role if you thrive on solving problems and helping others. You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting students to successfully carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts whilst creatingan innovativeand exciting educational environment. You will be technologically savvy with some prior demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and online meeting platforms like Microsoft Teams to be able to support students both face to face as well as via connecting platforms.

We are looking for motivated and engaged individuals who have the ability to meet the following selection criteria:

1. Appropriate subject knowledge, skills and vocational qualifications Diploma in Nursing or higher.
2. Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
3. High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
4. Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
5. Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
6. Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
