Responsibilities

• Assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas under the direction of the classroom teacher
• Assist with communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions
• Provide basic physical and emotional care for students
• Assist with toileting, meals, lifting and administration of medication to students requiring special care
• Promote an inclusive environment by understanding and supporting non-verbal students
• Observe students and inform the teacher of relevant learning and behavioural issues as necessary
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation of programs and student involvement and achievement
• Support implementation of intervention programs to address literacy, numeracy and social-emotional needs
• Collaborate with the intervention team to support program delivery
• Undertake training to maximise support for students with complex needs
• Keep documented records of student progress via case notes
• Undertake other duties related to the role as directed
• Participate in professional development to maintain current practice
