Job summary

Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking an Economic Development Officer to drive initiatives that strengthen the Bundaberg Region’s economy, workforce and employment opportunities. You will work with businesses, schools, industry partners and community stakeholders to deliver programs supporting youth workforce engagement, workforce planning, innovation and regional growth.

About The Opportunity

As an Economic Development Officer, you will play a key role in supporting initiatives that strengthen the Bundaberg Region’s economy, workforce, and employment opportunities. Working within the Economic Development Branch, you will collaborate with businesses, schools, industry partners, and community stakeholders to deliver programs that support youth workforce engagement, workforce planning, innovation, and regional growth.

You will contribute to projects and strategic initiatives that help position Bundaberg as a destination of choice to live, work and invest, while supporting positive outcomes for local businesses and the broader community.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

• Experience in business, innovation, stakeholder engagement, or a related environment, with the ability to build productive relationships and achieve positive outcomes.
• Demonstrated success working with employers, young people, and community stakeholders, including consultation and engagement activities.
• Strong written communication skills, with experience preparing reports, briefs, position papers, or other business documentation.
• The ability to work in a professional, fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities while delivering results within deadlines.
• Well-developed communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
• Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, education, community development, administration, project management, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
