Job description

BUILD A DIGITAL BUSINESS THAT CHANGES HOW BUILDERS BUY.

Part of Australasian Progressive Group (APG), Builders Centre is an established building supplies business entering an exciting phase of digital growth. We are seeking a commercially minded eCommerce Manager to lead the development of our online channel and help build a scalable, multi-million-dollar business. This is an opportunity to shape our digital strategy, introduce innovative technology and transform how trade customers purchase building products.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, you will lead the growth and commercial performance of our eCommerce channel, shaping its strategy and building a scalable, profitable business.

This is a hands-on leadership role with end-to-end ownership of the online customer experience. Working closely with our IT team, operational teams and external partners, you will drive innovation, optimise performance and deliver a digital offering that sets us apart in the building supplies industry.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the Shopify launch and ongoing online trading, conversion and customer experience.
  • Own the product catalogue and data strategy, helping scale from approximately 30,000 products towards 100,000 through accurate supplier-data ingestion, enrichment, pricing and stock visibility.
  • Work with IT and vendors to ensure reliable data and integrations between Shopify, Business Central and other systems.
  • Partner with stores, transport and supply chain to make bulky-goods delivery, freight pricing, click and collect, drop-shipping and lead-time promises commercially viable.
  • Own online customer service, performance reporting and the channel’s revenue, margin and cost-to-serve.
  • Brief and manage external website, SEO, Google and marketing partners against clear commercial outcomes.
  • Explore B2B trade functionality, AI-enabled experiences and new ways to meet builders where they already shop and communicate.
To be successful, you will bring:
  • Proven experience owning an eCommerce channel with commercial accountability, ideally in B2B or trade retail.
  • Experience with heavy or bulky products and complex logistics—such as building supplies, furniture, appliances or hardware.
  • Strong product-data and analytical capability, including advanced Excel and experience managing large, complex catalogues.
  • Working knowledge of Shopify and ERP-integrated commerce, including inventory, pricing, orders and fulfilment.
  • The ability to turn data into practical improvements and work confidently with IT, warehouse teams, store leaders and external agencies.
  • A growth mindset and the initiative to test ideas, solve operational problems and build scalable processes.
  • Building-supplies industry experience and familiarity with trade customers (desirable).
  • SQL and practical use of AI tools such as Claude for product-data enrichment and automation (desirable).
  • Experience with Business Central, Klaviyo, B2B trade accounts or marketplace development (preferred).
  • Build a digital channel from launch, with genuine P&L ownership and direct access to leadership.
  • Help shape a multi-million-dollar growth opportunity rather than simply maintain an established website.
  • Work with a modern technology stack and investment in AI, data and new customer experiences.
  • Competitive base salary + superannuation, with a discretionary performance bonus.

If you enjoy the intersection of eCommerce, data, logistics and commercial growth, we would love to hear from you.

Australian Progressive Group is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities. Candidates must provide proof of legal work rights and may be required to complete relevant, role-appropriate pre-employment screening.
