Job summary

River Cottage Preschool & Early Education Centre – Murwillumbah NSW

River Cottage Preschool & Early Education Centre is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team in Murwillumbah NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in providing high-quality early education and care to children within our early education setting. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will be instrumental in creating a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment where children can learn, grow and develop during their formative years. Your work directly impacts the wellbeing, development and educational outcomes of the children in our care, making this a strategically important role within our organisation.

Key responsibilities

Plan, implement and evaluate engaging educational experiences and play-based learning experiences that support children's cognitive, physical, social, emotional and creative development

Provide direct care and supervision to children, ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing at all times

Build positive relationships with children, encouraging independence, confidence and a love of learning

Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised learning environment that meets relevant legislation, regulations and centre policies

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and carers about children's progress, activities and any concerns

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent approaches to behaviour guidance, education and care practices

Support children with diverse needs, including those requiring additional support or with identified disabilities

Document and observe children's learning and development, contributing to individual learning plans and developmental assessments

Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports and other administrative documentation

Participate in professional development, team meetings and training to maintain current knowledge of early childhood education best practice

Work flexibly to support the needs of the centre, including attendance at occasional evening or weekend events where required

What we're looking for

A recognised qualification in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline (Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent as a minimum)

Current Working with Children Check clearance

Demonstrated experience working with children in an early education setting

Strong knowledge and understanding of current early childhood education frameworks, including the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

A patient, calm and compassionate approach to working with young children

Ability to implement positive behaviour guidance strategies and create inclusive learning environments

Physical fitness and ability to engage in active play and physical activities with children

Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and hygienic environment

Flexibility, reliability and a strong work ethic

Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Experience with documentation, observations and assessment of children's learning is highly desirable
