Job summary

Mildura English Language Centre (MELC), a campus of Mildura Senior College, is seeking an Education Support Class member to assist in delivering intensive EAL programs for students from Prep to Year 10. The role focuses on supporting learning, translating communications, and coordinating with teachers and families to foster inclusive, engaging classrooms.

You will work under supervision, provide literacy support, and contribute to student wellbeing while upholding the department's values.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting EAL learners in classroom or school settings.
• Ability to translate and communicate with families from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning in education.

Responsibilities

• Support student learning individually or in groups under teacher direction.
• Translate communications between teachers, students, and families.
• Assist with enrolment interviews and parent-teacher conferences.
• Assist in translating school documents and resources using interpreting services.
• Prepare basic curriculum resources.
• Assist liaising with external support services and families.
• Support staff in student wellbeing.
• Share insights into students' cultural backgrounds.
