Mildura English Language Centre (MELC) is seeking an Education Support class employee to assist teachers and support students with language development in a safe, inclusive setting. This role involves coordinating routine tasks, supporting individual and small group learning, and ensuring data and records are maintained under direction.

You will translate communications between teachers, students and families, assist in enrolment interviews, and contribute to a positive school culture.

Formación

• Demonstrated ability to support student learning in a diverse setting.
• Translate communication between teachers and non-English speaking students.
• Translate communication between teachers and non-English speaking parents during enrolment interviews and conferences.
• Assist in translating school documents and resources using interpreters when needed.
• Support liaison with external support service providers and families.

Responsabilidades

• Support student learning on an individual or group basis with direction from class teacher.
• Translate communication between teachers and non-English speaking students in the classroom.
• Support and translate communication between teachers and non-English speaking parents during enrolment interviews and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
• Assist in translating school documents and resources, including phone interpreting services.
• Assist school in liaising with external support service providers, teachers, students, and their families.
• Provide insight into students' cultural backgrounds and experiences where possible.
• Promote literacy in additional languages where relevant.
