Job summary

TJX Australia is seeking a Covert Loss Prevention Associate to support the Organised Retail Crime strategy through discreet surveillance and rapid intelligence gathering. You will work with Police and ORC teams to disrupt high-harm retail crime and reduce external theft.

The role requires 2+ years in loss prevention or investigations, strong observation and reporting skills, and the ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in loss prevention, security, or investigations.
• Strong understanding of retail theft and organised crime behaviours.
• Excellent observation, documentation, and communication skills.
• High integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct covert, plain-clothes surveillance in stores to identify recidivist offenders and ORC activity.
• Maintain personal and team safety, following safety protocols and legal guidelines.
• Ensure a discreet, professional presence to avoid confrontation and minimise risk.
• Escalate incidents involving violence or safety concerns to ORC Supervisor and Police.
• Observe and document offender behaviour, modus operandi, and concealment techniques with logs and notes.
• Communicate real-time intelligence to Police and ORC teams via approved channels.
• Support ORC investigations through witness statements, CCTV referencing, and evidence handling.
• Assist in developing local intelligence packages and offender profiles for ORC reporting systems.
• Build and maintain relationships with Police and centre security teams.
• Provide actionable intelligence to support shrink reduction strategies and interventions.
• Contribute to ORC KPI reporting and case file preparation.
