Job summary

Endeavour Foundation in Mackay is seeking a calm, compassionate Disability Support Worker to assist residents in Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes. You will help clients build daily living skills, from personal care to budgeting, in a respectful, safe environment.

Join a permanent roster offering days, afternoons and sleepovers with opportunities to pick up extra shifts where available. Open availability is required to be considered for this role.

Qualifications

• Calm, compassionate, and professional Disability Support Worker with experience supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Ability to provide personal care and support daily living tasks in a safe environment.
• Willingness to obtain or hold checks and licences (e.g., WWCC, First Aid) as required by the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist people with disabilities to develop daily living skills such as housekeeping and budgeting.
• Support with personal care and daily activities as needed.
• Facilitate meal planning, cooking, light cleaning and community outings.

We have permanent roster lines available across our SIL homes in Mackay, offering a mix of days, afternoons and sleepover supports. These roster lines are part of a permanent schedule with opportunities to pick up additional shifts where available. To be considered for this role, you will be required to have open availability.

Working within our SIL (Supported Independent Living) home in Mackay, you will provide support, assisting people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, whether they have complex needs or just need some additional support at home. No two days will be the same - you may hear that phrase a lot but here at Endeavour Foundation, you will see it in action!

Other Key Duties Will Include

• Helping people to achieve their NDIS goals by developing important daily skills such as housekeeping, personal care, social skills and budgeting.
• Assisting with aspects of personal care where required to meet the individual needs of the people we support.
• Supporting with meal planning, cooking, light cleaning and facilitating community connection by socialising and going on outings.
• Providing support during daily activities such as going for a walk, going to the movies or accompanying to an appointment.
• Helping the people we support to maintain a connection to their family, friends, and services.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a calm, compassionate, and professional Disability Support Worker with experience supporting individuals with complex support needs and behaviours of concern. You will be confident providing personal care and supporting daily living tasks while creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. The ability to remain calm under pressure, respond appropriately to challenging situations, and build trusting relationships is essential for success in this role.

We Also Require

• A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous.
• Availability to work a permanent roster line that may include multiple sleepovers and a variety of shifts across days, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and active overnight supports.
• Good computer skills and experience using Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), First Aid, CPR, National Criminal History Check (Fit2Work), and an open Drivers License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle.
