Job summary

Abilifly Support Service in Mount Isa, Queensland, is hiring a Disability Support Worker on a full-time basis. The role involves working in participant family homes and coordinating with the Operations Manager to deliver in-home and community support services.

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, have excellent communication skills, and be able to build positive relationships with participants, including children with disabilities. Training is provided and on-call shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Be respectful and communicate well with family members of those who you work with as you will be working in the participants family homes.
• Be able to think on your feet and be able to adapt to different situations and participants.
• Support the people we care for to grow their skills basis and abilities to perform tasks to help live a meaningful and good life.
• Support to develop and maintain independence and safety. This may be through personal care and hygiene, health and wellbeing, meal preparation or supporting them to access the community and activities.
• Implement Behaviour Support Plans, where required, aimed at supporting the individual who demonstrates challenging behaviours to achieve their goals.
• Implement routines and structures set out by Allied Health Teams.
• Please note that you may be required to work morning, afternoon and active overnight shifts depending on what will be required of the participant which will include some weekend and public holiday shifts too.
• Some travel may be required to clients who are outside of the Mount Isa region.
