Job summary

Endeavour Foundation is seeking a Disability Support Worker to provide person-centred support in our Supported Independent Living homes in Toowoomba. You’ll help people build independence, confidence and connection through daily living, community access and goal setting.

Casual hours are available with rosters including 3-4 sleepovers per Fortnight and every second weekend shifts, with potential to move to part-time in the future.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, families and colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain safe, respectful environments and promote inclusion.
  • Availability for shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and sleepovers.

Job description

As a Disability Support Worker, working within our Supported Independent Living homes, you’ll provide person-centred support that empowers people with disability to build independence, confidence and connection. No two days are the same — one day you might be supporting someone to learn new life skills, the next helping them get out into the community or achieve a personal goal.

Casual Hours available for rosters that consist of minimum 3-4 sleepovers per Fortnight and every second weekend shifts. Located in Toowoomba SIL homes. Options available to gain permanent part time hours in future.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting people with daily living activities, personal care and routines
  • Assisting clients with manual handling using hoists and slings
  • Encouraging independence, choice and inclusion
  • Supporting community access, social activities and wellbeing
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, families and colleagues
  • Maintaining safe, respectful and positive environments
What We’re Looking For
  • A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous
  • A caring, patient and respectful approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliability and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Availability to work a range of shifts (including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and sleepovers – penalty rates apply)
  • The capacity to meet the physical requirements as manual handling tasks are involved
You will be required to hold or willing to obtain
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • National Criminal History Check (Police Check)
  • Australian open Driver’s License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle
