Job summary

IFYS Limited is seeking a Disability Support Worker to provide daily support in Supported Independent Living settings across Sunshine Coast locations.

You will use a strengths-based approach to help participants build independence, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals. The role is casual with potential to move to part‑time, with training and ongoing mentorship from experienced leaders.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting people with disability, either professionally or through lived experience.
  • Willingness to obtain if successful: Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid, driver license.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and computer proficiency for documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in SIL arrangements and assist with daily living activities.
  • Plan and attend activities or appointments.
  • Assist with life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
  • Document daily notes and incident reports.
  • Support Positive Behaviour Support Plans and client wellbeing.

Job Description

The opportunity

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll provide daily support to individuals in Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements. You’ll use a strengths-based approach to help participants build independence, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals.

This opportunity is open to experienced support workers and those new to the sector who are motivated to make a meaningful contribution and committed to learning and growing in the role.

A day in the role of a Disability Support Worker

  • Work with individuals to maintain personal care and cleanliness of the house
  • Plan and attend activities or appointments
  • Assist with skill development for independent living, recreation, learning, and community access
  • Use daily routines to provide hands on training of life skills such as cooking, personal care and budgeting
  • Support and manage individuals behaviours utilising Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Complete daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reports

Skills and requirements

  • Experience supporting people with disability, either professionally or through lived experience
  • OR a genuine interest in entering the field of work with relevant study completed or in progress
  • Cert IV in Mental Health or Mental Health First Aid (desirable, not essential)
  • Effective interpersonalcommunication skills
  • Computer proficiency for documentation
  • Flexible availability to work a rotating roster (may include day, afternoon and active night, sleepovers and weekend shifts)
  • Physicalcapabilitytoperformmanual handling tasks

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful

  • Paid Workers Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check (Yellow Card)
  • Child Safety Personal History Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current QLD Driver Licencewith a clear traffic history
  • Willingness to use your own roadworthy, comprehensively insured vehicle (if required)

Other requirements
