Job summary

Enable, Independent Living, Housing and Support Services in Dickson ACT is seeking a compassionate disability support worker to deliver person-centred care and support for participants living with disabilities.

You will assist with activities of daily living, community access, education and recreational activities, while maintaining professional boundaries and accurate records. Partnerships with families, clinicians and other professionals are essential to empower independence and safety.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and patient demeanour required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically able to perform the duties.
• Build and maintain rapport with participants.
• Passport and/or Birth Certificate.
• Driver's Licence with insured vehicle.
• ACT Working with Vulnerable People card.
• First Aid and CPR certificates.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Program modules.

Responsibilities

• Providing person-centred support in accordance with participant support plans.
• Assisting participants with activities of daily living.
• Supporting participants with community access, education, employment and recreation.
• Providing emotional support and encouraging independence.
• Assisting with medication in line with policies and training.
• Maintaining shift notes, progress notes and incident reports.
• Identifying and reporting risks, hazards, incidents or safeguarding concerns.
• Following participant behaviour support plans where applicable.
• Working with participants, families, clinicians and other professionals.
• Maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
