Job summary

Hyde Melbourne Place seeks an experienced Director of Finance to steer the hotel’s finances, budgets, forecasts, reporting, and controls. Working with the General Manager, Ownership and Leadership Team, you will drive profitability and informed decision making across all operations.

You will lead a finance team, ensure strong internal controls, and collaborate with department heads to optimise costs and revenue in a dynamic luxury hotel setting within the Ennismore/Accor network.

Hyde Melbourne Place is a five-star lifestyle hotel in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, bringing together bold design, exceptional hospitality, and distinctive dining experiences. Home to 191 rooms and suites, the hotel offers guests a truly unique destination to stay, dine, and connect.

Under one roof, Hyde Melbourne Place features three venues: Eastern Mediterranean dining with city views at Cleo rooftop, coastal Spanish and Portuguese cuisine at Marmelo restaurant, or late-night drinks at Mr Mills bar. The hotel also features a dedicated Meetings & Events floor, catering for up to 400 guests.

POSITION

Hyde Melbourne Place is looking for an experienced Director of Finance to lead the hotel's finances and support business growth. Working closely with the General Manager, Ownership, and Leadership Team, you will oversee budgets, forecasts, reporting, and financial controls while helping the hotel make informed business decisions and improve profitability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the finance function across all hotel operations, including Rooms, Food & Beverage, and Events;
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions;
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and monthly financial reporting;
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company policies, and internal controls;
• Lead, coach, and develop the finance team;
• Partner with department leaders to manage costs, maximise revenue, and improve profitability;
• Build and maintain strong relationships with auditors, owners, and corporate stakeholders;
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve results and operational efficiency.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience as a Director of Finance or in a senior finance role within a hotel;
• Strong understanding of budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting;
• Experience leading and developing teams;
• Excellent communication and organisational skills;
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
• Experience working with operational teams to improve business performance;
• Good knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and reporting requirements;
• Proficient in hotel finance systems and Microsoft Excel;
• Able to build positive relationships with people at all levels of the business.
