This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and inspiring leader to join Business NSW and help shape the future of Liverpool – Sydney’s next major CBD.

The Liverpool Innovation Precinct (LIP) is a membership-based body comprising key stakeholders in Liverpool across government, health, education and research. Reporting to the LIP Steering Committee, Chaired by Business NSW, you will be a high-profile leader driving advocacy, influencing strategic direction, precinct placemaking and investment attraction to help position Liverpool as a thriving city of innovation and opportunity.

Please note: This is a visible, senior level position and as such, deep industry/sector experience in the key deliverables below will need to be held by the successful candidate.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Policy Leadership Working closely with the LIP Chair and Steering Committee to develop policy recommendations and strategies addressing Liverpool’s key challenges and opportunities, and to advocate for their adoption by government and other stakeholders
  • Political Engagement and Advocacy Developing and implementing strategies to influence government policy and programs that impact Liverpool
  • Grants and sponsorships Identifying and securing funding from government and private sources for projects enhancing Liverpool’s public spaces, amenities, liveability, infrastructure and services
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including acting as a catalyst between LIP members, government, businesses, universities, research institutes, developers, startups and potential investors
  • Financial Management Managing the Precinct’s budget effectively, including spending on policies, programs and research to benefit Liverpool
  • Reporting and Communications providing monthly reports and strategic advice to the LIP Steering Committee, and leading public communications that promote Liverpool’s progress and achievements

About you

You will have appropriate professional qualifications in a relevant field and bring proven leadership experience from former roles as a Senior Executive in a public, private or not-for-profit organisation. A background in urban planning, policy or placemaking would be an advantage. You will have demonstrated success in leading teams, shaping strategy and delivering impact, along with expertise in policy development, advocacy, high-level stakeholder management, as well as commercial and financial acumen.
