Shaw Talent have exclusively partnered with an award winning, employee owned engineering consultancy at an exciting stage in their Australian growth story. With three offices across Australia and over 100 staff, this is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role in the Sydney office, working directly alongside the NSW Office Director and taking ownership of the development of the Electrical team.

We are searching for a confident communicator with industry tenure and a reputation that helps them enter a room. Within the office you lead by example, influence culture and help guide the team to deliver exceptional outcomes. This is a leadership position for someone who is present, engaged and trusted.

The Opportunity

As Director, Building Services (Electrical), you will:

• Assist the NSW Office Director in leading the Sydney team, whilst taking responsibility for the Electrical team's performance and culture.


• Be accountable for the NSW Electrical team's technical capability, project delivery and organic headcount.


• Lead multi-disciplinary project delivery at Project Director level on complex, high-value work.


• Act as a true Director-level leader, balancing people leadership, client leadership and project leadership.


• Maintain a visible, office-based presence, setting the standard for performance and accountability alongside the wider leadership team.


• Lead, mentor and develop senior engineers, whilst supporting sector leads and helping build the next generation of leaders.


• Play a client-facing role, maintaining senior relationships and contributing meaningfully to business development at a Director level.


• Work with a fully in-house BIM capability, with nothing delivered offshore.


• Deliver across a broad sector base: residential (high rise, BTR and mixed use), healthcare, aged care, labs, education, commercial, hotels, retail, and precinct and master planning.


• Act as an ambassador for the business in the Sydney market across clients and the wider industry network.

Who You Are

• 12+ years' experience in building services engineering within a consulting environment, including at least five years in the Australian market.


• Electrical engineering is your core background, with credibility across multi-disciplinary delivery.


• Proven experience operating at Principal, Associate Director or Director level, with hands‑on involvement in projects, people and clients.


• A natural leader with a strong office presence: visible, approachable and decisive.


• Established client relationships and the ability to contribute to winning work, without BD being the foundation of the role.


• Comfortable leading complex projects at Project Director level, balancing technical quality, commercial outcomes and team performance.


• Known for integrity, authenticity and the ability to bring people with you.
